Two great positions to view the Cuillin Mountain Range are from Ord on the southern
end of Skye. (garden of Skye) or Elgol, accessed via a single track road winding around
Loch Slapin. There are fantastic views from Elgol across Loch Scavaig and The Cuillin
Sound to the small Isles of Soay, Canna and Rum. Scenic boat trips on The Bella Jane
also leave from Elgol and a lovely cafe sits on the hilltop overlooking the bay. Also on
the southern part of Skye is Armadale Castle with gardens a visitors centre and cafe
restaurant. Armadale also has a larger Caledonian MacBrayne ferry going back across
onto the mainland to the fishing port of Mallaig. Further attractions north on Skye are the Whisky Distillary at Carbost, The Aros Centre just prior to the main Skye town of Portree,
which offers shops and cafes / restaurants and galleries. On the far north west is Dunvegan Castle and Neist Point Lighthouse can be found overlooking a remote and rugged coastline.
Back on the mainland from Skye Bridge, a short trip around the coastal
road is Plockton, a beautiful fishing village overlooking Loch Carron,
there are numerous cafes / restaurants and pubs.
