Things To Do In Glenmoriston

Glenmoriston and Fort Augustus are geographically in the 'Heart of The Highlands'

There are numerous attractions and activities along Glenmoriston, Glenshiel and Glengarry,
here are just a few suggestions in the local area.

The Old Bridge

A Thomas Telford bridge of 1805 built to

improve the Military Road between

Inverness and Fort Augustus.

Dalchreichart

Local short walks direct from Serendipity

along Glenmoriston to view wildlife, rivers

and spectacular mountainous scenery.

Glenshiel - Glengarry

Both of these glens are very picturesque

surrounded by towering high mountains.
From the Glengarry Viewpoint you can

really appreciate the impressive Highland landscape. Likewise the journey through
Glenshiel is stunning with the 'South

Glenshiel Ridge' and 'North Strath

Cluanie Range' Red Deer Stags and Hinds

are a regular sight along these glens.

Walking - Climbing

Many local walks through forest paths
and over the nearby hills or venture
into the mountainous landscape along
designated Munro routes.

Invermoriston Woodland Walks

Several signposted woodland short walks

down close to the River Moriston or a steeper

climb through the forest path along a section of

The Great Glen Way to reach commanding

views of Loch Ness above Invermoriston.

Roderick MacKenzie's Cairn

Roderick MacKenzie was an Officer in the
Army of Prince Charles Edwart Stuart.
"Bonnie Prince Charlie"
Mistaken by English troops for the Prince,
MacKenzie was caught and murdered thus
assisting the real Prince to escape.
The Cairn is situated a short distance along
the glen at the roadside.

Waterfalls

There are several impressive falls along very pleasant low level walks at Ceannocroc,

or a series of small falls at Inverwick.

The Battle of Glenshiel

Follow the battle sites relating
to the 1719 Jacobite Uprising.
